Crisis communications

Communicating in a crisis
When a crisis strikes, or an incident threatens to turn into a crisis, you will be prepared. Our crisis communications course will enable you to handle the media with skill and judgement, knowing who your real target audience is, exactly how much information to give and how to deliver it. You will work through carefully designed scenarios in a safe setting, before learning how to apply the lessons to your company or organisation. For senior managers, spokespeople and those who will take the lead in a crisis.

Crisis management

Handling the media is just one aspect of managing a crisis successfully. Identifying and communicating with all stakeholders including customers, clients, employees, industry associations, regulators and the emergency services is also crucial. Our preparedness training will help you to identify potential problems, plan an early warning system, develop exercise scenarios and plan response options in advance. It will also show you how to develop a simple incident response guide to take you through those first crucial hours. Our crisis management course is delivered by Robin Clifford OBE, a specialist in strategic reputational risk planning and international issues preparedness and management. During his previous military career, Robin was responsible for high profile international communications planning and media handling in the Balkans, Afghanistan and Iraq. As a consultant he has managed crisis communications for a wide range of commercial organisations from international commodities traders to local cottage industries.

I can’t think of a more effective course that I have attended in 18 years in the CPS.”
